RURAL DAY ON THE HILL
Helping to build visibility, voice, and power for rural communities.
In the middle of a snowstorm, and one of the busiest legislative sessions in recent memory, something important happened at the Capitol: Community members traveled from across Utah’s rural towns and Tribal communities to take part in our Rural Day on the Hill.
Participants spoke directly with lawmakers about protecting vote-by-mail, advancing the Tribal ID bill (which passed!), investing in geothermal energy (also passed!), and improving air quality through programs like wood stove replacement. They made clear, direct asks: fund these efforts, protect access, and ensure rural and Tribal communities aren’t left behind.
They also expressed gratitude, thanking lawmakers who stepped up to carry these issues forward. That combination of pressure and partnership is what moves policy. Lawmakers remember who they meet. They remember the stories. They remember when people show up.
We’re deeply grateful to everyone who made the trip and spoke up.
